00Cr17S is an ultra-low carbon free-machining ferritic stainless steel bright bar with carbon content ≤0.03% and chromium content ranging from 16.0% to 18.0%. Sulfur is added to optimize machinability, combining the corrosion resistance of stainless steel and superior processing performance. It features balanced mechanical properties, moderate tensile and yield strength and excellent plasticity. It can deform appropriately under force to avoid brittle fracture. Its hardness can be flexibly adjusted after heat treatment to meet working conditions requiring wear resistance and mild corrosion resistance. With sulfur serving as lubricant during cutting, it greatly reduces tool wear in turning, milling and drilling, enabling ultra-smooth surface finish and precise dimensional accuracy. It has excellent thermoplasticity for hot working, supporting smooth hot rolling and forging to produce various blanks and precision finished parts. Slight work hardening occurs in cold working, yet shape and size modification can still be realized while improving surface and mechanical performance.
