410 is basic martensitic stainless steel bright bar.
Core feature: Hardenable by quenching for high hardness and wear resistance. Annealed grade has moderate plasticity for simple bending & stamping; cold working causes rapid work hardening, toughness restored after tempering.
Its corrosion resistance is slightly better than carbon steel, only resistant to dry atmosphere, fresh water and neutral weak acid, poor against chloride and seawater. Long-term service at 400~600℃ precipitates chromium carbide and leads to welding sensitization, post-weld full heat treatment is mandatory to recover corrosion resistance and toughness.
Hot forming window 800~1000℃; overheating causes coarse grain embrittlement. Supports simple cold forming; stable machinability in annealed condition, high tool wear for quenched hard material.
