N02200 is high-purity face-centered cubic commercial pure nickel bright bar.
Two core unique strengths:
1. Unmatched caustic alkali resistance across all concentrations of NaOH up to 315℃, superior to all stainless steel & duplex grades;
2. Excellent electrical/thermal conductivity and ultra-high ductility, elongation ≥40% in annealed condition, ideal for deep drawing, cold heading and bending.
N02201 (Nickel 201, low carbon C≤0.02%) is upgraded variant for service above 315℃; N02200 with higher carbon suffers graphitization & embrittlement under long-term heat above 315℃.
Non-hardenable by quenching without martensitic transformation; annealing at 700~925℃ relieves cold work stress and restores ductility. Wide hot forming window 800~1150℃, easy for mass CNC turning, low tool built-up edge risk vs duplex & martensitic steel.
Limitations: No Cr/Mo leads to poor pitting resistance in seawater, brine and strong oxidizing acid. Max continuous service temperature 315℃, not allowed for sustained high-temperature dry heat. Higher raw material cost than standard 300/400-series stainless steel.
